After my last blog 5 Ways to Gauge training sales manager, I have heard from several customers. Sales Vice President loved the article and asked for copies of their sales managers. Two counts of sale of companies such as e, but unwilling to send their managers to front-line sales because of my comment (see below) that coaching is more important than the administration. Neither wants their sales managers feel it is okay to pass the time in the soil and prevent the administration.
"As many of us, managers tend to spend their time on activities that are the best and enjoy. A manager who focuses primarily on administrative tasks such as reporting on time for training can be less comfortable. The manager found creative ways to make the field and spend more time with sales probably do not see the value of that time. Remember that the administration does not generate income or help the development of its sales staff and time spent in the country improves its representatives "to be the best they can be."
Both face individual sales managers who had not completed its administrative functions for the time and were tired of excuses. So by sending this article was thought providing further justification for the sales staff, to escape from their administrative duties.
For the sales manager, managers do not receive reports their direct effects their ability to do their work – hence his frustration with reports that are not in the top of his administration. I can certainly see their views and I took two key points of our discussions:
- It is always important to manage your boss and keep them happy. Even if the administration not generating income, the old adage that "work is not finished until the paperwork is done", TRUE.
- This reinforces my article A sales manager has little visibility on how to coach their managers. Given the lack of visibility, first line managers to sell may be poor, but the coaches perceived as good managers, by their bosses.
The target message in my blog was that coaching is No. 1 Management activity that boosts performance. In fact, a good framework for higher education can boost sales by 19 percent. The impact of long-term development and retain their sales staff is essential to the success of expanded sales organization. Given my experience as a coach with many sales managers have found that management skills is an area that even the most successful manager can improve sales.
The message? Coaching Gran = great performance. Get the complete = Boss happy.
