Here are my weekly money-saving tips:
1. Maintaining a good credit rating! It will save you thousands of dollars in the short term and long term when you borrow money to buy a car or a house. The creditors will give you an interest rate and loan amount depending on their income and credit score.
2. Large sums of money should NEVER be left in the account control, or even a small compensation for bank savings accounts. Instead, put money in a savings account high interest (like an ING savings plan), money market funds or other short-term interest of the high fixed income investments.
3. If you have an employer matching 401K plan, maximize your contributions, so double your money!
4. To remove the 10% of their wages to account any long-term savings, as a money market account, mutual funds, pension plan or 401K. As the amount you pay increases, your contribution will also increase automatically. 10% also ensure you stay ahead of inflation.
5. One of the best investments you can make is to first pay off high credit card debt. Credit cards are generally subject to high interest rate and payment of these debts, you get better performance is also tax free.
6. If you lose sleep over an investment if its shares, investment funds or retirement scheme, its not worth it! Lack of sleep is probably a good indication that it may be too risky, too good to be true, or simply not the investment for you.
7. If an investment provides returns that are simply too good to be true, it probably is. Unless you are intimately involved in insider trading or investment, an investment that sounds too good to be true is probably too ambitious, too risky or just a scam.
8. Before investing in something, always do your own research. Consultation with others and get a second opinion is good, but research is needed to you. The Internet is the best source of great information, but be sure to read or obtain sufficient relevant data.
9. Always negotiate the commissions or fees paid to property or financial advice. Do not be fooled by the standard commissions and "non-negotiable rates." It's your money and experts working for you.
10. Power not by debt? If you are having difficulty meeting its debt payments each month, and feels to dig a deep hole, go talk to your creditors and banks to find a way out of trouble. Be careful with debt consolidators who may rate higher long term interest of long term and further into debt.
